Mill "De Vier Winden"
The proud heart of Camping de Molenhof
Right at the entrance of our campsite, a beautiful piece of Twente history shines bright: flour mill 'De Vier Winden'. This monumental tower mill has been owned by the Kleijsen family (Erve Kleijsen) for generations and is truly a part of the campsite. In fact, Camping de Molenhof owes its name to this very windmill!
A brief history
The octagonal wooden tower mill was rebuilt on its current spot in 1862, after previously serving in De Lutte. Around 1895, the mill came into the possession of the Kleijsen family. Locally, it is therefore often fondly called 'Kleijsen’s Möll' (Kleijsen's Mill). To protect this unique heritage, the mill is managed by the family foundation Stichting De Molenhof Erve Kleijsen. Thanks to a major restoration, the mill is still fully operational today.
